THE PROBLEM IS

From the largest corporation to the smallest store the workplace can be  filled with stress, anxiety, deadlines, miscommunication and sadly all too often bullying and depression. All of these effect productivity and wellbeing. Identifying and resolving issues as quickly as possible benefits the employer not only for financial reasons but because it demonstrate 'good practice'. Failure by employers to deal with this issue can and has led to legal action by disgruntled employees and in the worst case scenario suicide. Regular sessions help remove the stigma of mental health, encourage healthy permanent resolution, support 'team building' and intice prospective employees. A week off with a bottle of antidepressants never solved resolved anything.

WHAT CAN I DO ?

I'm regularly contacted  to visit corporate clients to hold guided group meditation sessions to work with employees in the corporate environment.  A quiet space is needed, each session takes around 40 minutes so can be during a lunch break or after work. Regular sessions create camaraderie  open conversations about general mental health, understanding and empathy amongst employees and can lead to requests smaller group/dept 'work shops' . These more advanced sessions are carried out in strict confidence with an agreed goal/outcome and the approval of any relevant HR dept. Offering these alternative ground breaking solutions is imperative and fundamentally essential to create and maintain a healthy work environment. Resolution is the key to ongoing harmony.

In extreme/acute situations mediation can be undertaken

How it works and why its essential - the basics

Coping with stress is a multifaceted response that involves numerous factors including social, environmental, personal, habitual and learned responses.  This creates a  balanced less stressed state of mind open to communican and adverse to conflict

Sessions in the workplace are convenient, well recieved and appreciated. These workplace visits are an incredibly helpful tool in avoiding absence from work due to stress related illness and demonstrating investment in your employees mental health and wellbeing. Funds allocated to the mental wellbeing of employees are tax deductable

Criminal litigation by employees and claims against public liability insurance regarding workplace stress are increasing. Companies providing these therapies as a preventative measure are considered more desirable by prospective employees. Employers are encouraged to report these in house services to their public liability insurers especially in sectors where high levels of stress are prevalent (e.g banking, teaching, public services)
